#BOTD 2022 – Week 44

Tuesday, November 8th, 2022

If you only like one genre of music, this week will not be for you. If you only like one genre of music, I have lots of questions for you. Stumbled upon some really cool stuff this week. (It’s week 44, and I’m still stumbling upon so many gems! I love it). Go find something new to listen to on repeat like I am.

If this is your first time here, I’m the worst music reviewer.

Don’t forget to show these bands some love…follow the socials, buy the music/merch, etc.

P.S. Protect trans lives. Say gay everyday. We can’t and won’t be erased. Be a safe space for your local and not so local queers to land. We see you. We are here for you. We love you.

P.P.S. Safe abortion for all. No compromise. No Apology.

Here’s the recap of new (to us) bands we listened to last week (10/31 – 11/06).

xoxo Jaclyn

Week 44

10/31: Hell & Back
I listened to the full length from 2017, Slowlife. Fun, often fast, catch punk stuff. Well done. Favorite Track: Fiction & History

11/01: Common Sage
I checked out the full length from 2021, It Lives and It Breathes. It’s got post-hardcore, emo vibes. Some heavier, dark and dissonant tracks with some lighter more ambient jams mixed throughout. Favorite Track: Fall Down

11/02: Baseline.
New music Wednesday? I listened to the new EP, Landfill. This wins the “most 90s vibes” of the week award. Favorite Track: Lie to Me

11/03: Hot Mass
New music Thursday? I checked out the new full length, Happy, Smiling, and Living the Dream. If this was an award show, it would win one of the, “Top stumble upon of the week (maybe year)” awards. Well done. Favorite Track: Remember, the Nearest Exit May Be Behind You (all of them)

11/04: Irish Handcuffs
New music Friday! I checked out the new full length Transitions. Cozy, catchy punk. If you are one of those folks who considers Alkaline Trio to be emo, you might also consider this band emo. Favorite Track: Landmarks

11/05: Rough Dreams
I listened to the 2021 release, Disappear. Reappear. A nod to early 00’s “emo”, pop punk, with crunchier guitars. Favorite Track: Cursed at the Sun (or Challenger.86-Scavengers)

11/06: adults
New music Sunday? I checked out the new full length, for everything, always. It’s a bop! I bopped. Favorite Track: all we’ve got / all we need
